What the Transcript Shows
The House Oversight Committee released a 111-page transcript of former Attorney General Pam Bondi’s closed-door interview on May 29, 2026. Two things stand out.
Bondi told investigators that acting Attorney General Todd Blanche “was in charge of the handling and the release of the Epstein files.” She said she “did not lead every aspect of this effort or conduct that document review myself.” She is distancing herself from decisions about what was released and what was withheld.
When asked about conversations with Trump regarding the files, Bondi refused to answer. “I will not disclose any conversations I had with the President of the United States.” She invoked executive privilege.
What Was Released and What Was Not
The DOJ released 3.5 million pages out of roughly 6 million identified as potentially responsive to the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The release included more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images.
| Released | Withheld |
|---|---|
| 3.5 million pages (58%) | ~2.5 million pages (42%) |
| 2,000+ videos | ~200,000 pages with redactions |
| 180,000 images | Pages classified as duplicative, privileged, or CSAM |
The Epstein Files Transparency Act was signed by Trump on November 19, 2025. The legal deadline for release was December 19, 2025. The DOJ missed it by six weeks.
The “Client List” Claim
In a 2025 television interview, Bondi said the Epstein client list was “on her desk.” She later clarified that she was referring to the entire case file, not a specific list of clients. The transcript does not resolve what Bondi knew about Epstein’s associates or when she knew it.
Bondi told the committee she was “not sure the extent President Trump was aware of Epstein’s crimes” and said she does not believe Trump’s name appears on a client list.
What Happens Next
Blanche, who is Trump’s nominee for permanent Attorney General, now controls the files and will face questioning about redaction decisions at his confirmation hearing. Representatives Robert Garcia and Robert Castillo are pushing for subpoenas for Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel.
