Eighteen states have already passed laws restricting diversity, equity, and inclusion programs at public universities. Now H.R. 1282, the "Eliminate DEI in Colleges Act," would take it federal -- cutting funding to any institution that maintains DEI programs.

This comes on top of state-level damage. Texas SB 17 closed diversity offices at public universities. Texas SB 12 extended the ban to K-12 schools, prohibiting student clubs based on sexual orientation or gender identity. A federal court temporarily blocked parts of SB 12 in Houston, Katy, and Plano, ruling the provisions likely violated students' constitutional rights. But schools across Texas are already canceling programs to stay out of the crosshairs.

Tell Congress to vote no on H.R. 1282. Federal funding should not be used to punish colleges for having diversity programs.
